Gabriel Moncef EL MAHI is President of the International innovation initiative institute (3I Institute), where his main area of focus is Africa and the Middle East. His contributions cover the economic development of this region, with a strong interest in Saudi Arabia and its Vision 2030 driven by the kingdom’s crown prince.
Gabriel Moncef has demonstrated a unique expertise in the field of macroeconomics, where his vision has guided large-scale economic policies, such as his contribution to the study on the financial, institutional and operational implications of a new state reform on the finances of the Brussels-Capital Region. His passion for human capital development, combined with his in-depth knowledge of public finance, makes him a key player in transforming his strategic and innovative vision into concrete projects.
He is currently pursuing a PhD in economics at the Université Catholique de Louvain, where he is deepening his research potential. Gabriel Moncef holds a Master’s degree in Theoretical Economics and Econometrics from the Toulouse School of Economics and a Master’s degree in Advanced Studies in Economics from KU Leuven. He also obtained a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Namur and a Master’s degree in public policy from Sciences Po Paris. Finally, Gabriel Moncef is a computer science and applied mathematics engineer, which completes his solid academic background and gives him a multidisciplinary approach to his research and advice to governments.
Gabriel Moncef has occupied a number of important positions. He is currently a researcher at the Université Catholique de Louvain, where his work focuses on macroeconomics and heterogeneous agents. Previously, he was a researcher at the University of Namur and an organization and strategy consultant at Mazars. He also worked for the French Ministry of Labor, where he was in charge of managing public programs to support businesses. Alongside his professional activities, he has been involved in a number of associations, namely the regional youth council of Ile de France.
Gabriel Moncef is a French and Moroccan national living in Belgium. He speaks Arabic, English and French, and is currently learning Spanish and Dutch.
